About this place

Stradun is the main street in Dubrovnik's historic old town, Croatia. This limestone-paved thoroughfare stretches for about 300 meters (980 feet) from Pile Gate in the west to Ploče Gate in the east, connecting these two major entrances to the old town.

Stradun's uniform architectural style is characterized by elegant buildings with Baroque and Renaissance facades that date back to the time after a devastating earthquake in 1667. These buildings house numerous shops, restaurants, cafes, and boutiques.

At the western end of Stradun stands the Orlando Column, a stone-carved pillar with a statue of the legendary knight Orlando, symbolizing the freedom and independence of Dubrovnik. The Sponza Palace and the Church of St. Blaise, both iconic landmarks, are also situated along Stradun.

The street is the central hub of activity in Dubrovnik's old town. It hosts various cultural events, processions, and festivals throughout the year, including the traditional Dubrovnik Summer Festival
